First of All What is Liniment ? Well, to answer this question, Liniment is the medicinal preparation applied topically on the skin.Liniment are having similar viscosity like lotions but different in application on the skin.We are applying the lotion on the skin fractionally while liniment can not be used in this way.Liniment can be applied on the skin for external use only with rubbing. Generally Liniment are used for relieving the muscle stiffness,such as from sore muscles or from arthritis and relieving pain like balm we are using. General Formulation & evaluation of turpentine liniments is given here. Soft Soap :2.7 grams  Camphor : 1.5 Grams  Terpentine Oil : 19.2 ml  Purified water : upto 30 ml Use : Terpentine liniments are used for following application. VASAKA- Family : A canthaceae Genus : Justicia  Species : J. adhatoda Common name : Adulsa (Vasaka) Kingdom : Plantae Description: It is evergreen shrub about 2.2-3.5 meters high, wich have long leaves and white flowers in axillary spike.The plants grown in mainly India except the mountain region. Characteristic: They are long, dark green in color.cattle and other animals can not eat the plants as the plant VASAKA contain unpleasant smell from it. Medicinal use of VASAKA: Leaves and flowers are both used medicinally.for treating asthma and cough the juice of leaves of VASAKA is given orally.It has an active constituent namely vasacine, which is brancho-dialator in nature,that can be used for treating Asthma.Most of the ayurvedic preparation of cough syrup contain the juice extracted from VASAKA plants. leaves are used as green manur, and for packing purposes.
